Susan NamkungSusan Namkung, Principal at the Women’s Venture Capital Fund, brings an unusual combination of legal expertise and a real understanding of business strategy and development having served as a valued team member to many of her longstanding clients. Susan was a corporate M&A law firm partner who recently decided to launch her second career and pursue her lifelong interest in investments and start-up companies.

Susan spent 15 years practicing corporate law at Hogan Lovells, a global leading law firm, where she was based in McLean, Virginia for two years before transferring to their office in London, England for the remainder of her legal career. She has extensive experience advising multi-national clients on a wide array of corporate transactional matters, including mergers, stock and asset purchases, joint ventures and divestitures.

Susan has worked in many sectors including hotels and leisure, airlines, technology and communications. During her eight-year tenure as a partner, Susan served as the Head of Pro Bono for the London office and played a key role in expanding the size of the London office by 10-fold.

Susan relocated from London to Portland in 2011 and learned about the Women’s Venture Capital Fund in the spring of 2013 at which time she became a limited partner. Susan was so enthusiastic about the team and their investment philosophy that she spent six months volunteering her time prior to formally joining the Fund.

Susan received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College, magna cum laude, with a double major in Economics and Political Science. She spent her junior year abroad at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea studying business management. Susan earned her JD at Cornell Law School where she was a finalist in the Cuccia Cup Moot Court Competition and a member of the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy.
